Jack Diab

Graduate Student

Jack joined the Narang Lab in the Fall of 2022 as an incoming graduate student pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemistry. He received a B.S. in Biochemistry with a minor in Mathematics from Southern Oregon University. Prior to entering UCLA, Jack worked as a research intern at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in the Geophysics and Planetary Interiors for 2 years. His research background is in designing steered and adaptively biased molecular dynamics simulations to probe enzyme inhibition as well as in predicting in-situ organic formation and transport in the subsurface environments of icy ocean worlds via geochemical modeling. He is interested in using quantum chemistry and optics to investigate more fundamental properties of material and charge transport.

Entering UCLA, Jack is interested in focusing more of his efforts on using computation to solve problems regarding light-matter interaction such as dynamics of intraband polaritons.

Fun fact: Jack played Jazz and classical Double Bass for >10 years and will never turn down a game of ping pong!
