Jack Diab
Jack joined the NarangLab in the Fall of 2022 as an incoming graduate student pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemistry. He received a B.S. in Biochemistry with a minor in Mathematics from Southern Oregon University. Prior to entering UCLA, Jack worked as a research intern at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in the Geophysics and Planetary Interiors for 2 years. His research background is in designing steered and adaptively biased molecular dynamics simulations to probe enzyme inhibition as well as in predicting in-situ organic formation and transport in the subsurface environments of icy ocean worlds via geochemical modeling. He is interested in using computational and theoretical tools to design and understand quantum sensors for chemical and biological applications.
His current work focuses on using optical techniques to design quantum-enhanced chemical and bioearosol sensors.
Fun fact: Jack played Jazz and classical Double Bass for >10 years and is an avid biker around LA!
