Dr. Samuel Bekoe

Postdoctoral Scholar

Samuel joined the Narang Lab during the summer of 2023 as a Postdoctoral Fellow. His academic journey began with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Chemistry at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 2017. Following this, he dedicated a year to serving as a teaching assistant in KNUST’s Department of Chemistry. He joined Prof. Filipp Furche at UC Irvine for his Ph.D. in Chemistry in 2018. During his doctoral studies, he specialized in developing structure-preserving methods applicable to molecular response calculations within the realms of time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) and Hartree-Fock (TDHF).

His present research pursuits with the Narang Lab encompass a wide array of themes within the realms of quantum computing and chemistry. These include the development of quantum algorithms tailored for simulating quantum systems. By harnessing the power of quantum computing, he aims to make strides in understanding and predicting the behavior of strongly correlated quantum systems.

On a lighter note, when not immersed in the world of academia, Samuel enjoys spending his leisure moments breaking ankles on the basketball court or simply unwinding on his piano.
