Dr. Jugal Talukdar

Postdoctoral Scholar

Jugal hails from Assam, India, a scenic and relatively remote state in the northeastern region known for its tea production and the greater one-horned rhinoceros. His educational journey led him to Pune in western India, where he obtained a BS-MS dual degree from the prestigious Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune in spring 2017. During his undergraduate years, he dedicated his research efforts to studying the theoretical aspects of Rydberg excitations in conjunction with a photonic crystal waveguide. In the fall of 2017, Jugal joined the University of Oklahoma, Norman, as a graduate student. There, he continued his passionate pursuit of research within the field of atomic, molecular, and optical (AMO) physics. In his doctoral dissertation, he studied how quantum emitters collectively behave when interacting with a correlated photonic environment.

He joined the Narang Lab in August 2023 as a postdoctoral researcher where his research is in the field of quantum information science, with a particular emphasis on understanding quantum network hardware and quantum simulation. In addition to his deep interest in quantum physics, the Hilbert space of his life also includes passion for playing cricket and soccer, as well as preparing Indian dishes.
