Dr. Joachim Thomsen

Postdoctoral Scholar

Joachim joined the Narang Lab in the fall of 2021 as a postdoctoral scholar. He received his M.S. in Physics and Nanotechnology at the Technical University of Denmark and his Ph.D. in applied physics from the same university. Prior to joining the group, Joachim was a postdoctoral researcher in the Frances Ross lab at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

His research interests are on transmission electron microscopy studies of two-dimensional quantum materials involving in-situ heating, cooling, gas flow, and electrical characterization. Currently, he studies magnetic 2D materials and van der Waals heterostructures, in particular, the effect of electric fields on magnetic textures and magnetic properties.
