Dr. Akash Singh

Akash joined the NarangLab as a Postdoctoral Fellow in May 2023. Prior to that, in November 2020, he was a postdoctoral fellow in Prof. Vivek Shenoy’s group at the University of Pennsylvania. During his time at Penn, Akash focused on defect engineering and magnetic doping of nanomaterials. His research involved investigating exquisite 2D magnetic materials that exhibit robust long-range spin ordering and high Curie temperature. Additionally, he made significant contributions to the development of machine learning models for predicting the strain effects on adsorption energy.

Akash obtained his Ph.D. in Computational Condensed Matter Physics in 2020 from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. His doctoral thesis centered around the theory of point defects and the engineering of charge transition levels in nanomaterials. He successfully elucidated the underlying factors contributing to the n-type conductivity of monolayer TMDs.
